History of Dell's
About Us
Dell’s Pizza was started by Ed & Dell Sarnowski who moved to Arizona City in 1963
from Chicago.  In Chicago, Ed would have a small pizza almost every night before he
went to bed, but in Arizona he could not find a pizza place near by.  He missed his
nightly pizza so he talked his wife Dell into making homemade pizza for him.  They
would have parties at their home and serve their guests the homemade pizzas.
Soon their friends encouraged them to open a pizza shop because the pizza was so
wonderful and there was no place to have pizza.  In 1964 they opened a small
restaurant in the plaza in Arizona City where they served pizza and sandwiches.
In 1965 they moved to their current location which originally was built for The Casa
Grande JayCee’s.  At the time, it was sort of out of town but they thought it was the
perfect location between the Drive-In and the Bowling Alley.  There was hardly any
development north of the Jr. High School.  They only occupied the front room and
had eleven tables. A small Cheese Pizza was $1.25 and a Glass of Tap Beer was .
25, those were the days.
In 1968 they purchased the building and expanded to the back two rooms. That
year, Casa Grande experienced heavy monsoon storms and the building was
flooded three times (right on the new carpet, tables and chairs).  But they survived
and kept on making pizzas.
In 1986 the big screen TV and satellite were added so the family could watch their
favorite sports teams, The Chicago White Sox, The Chicago Bears, The University
of Arizona, and The Phoenix Suns. Currently they now watch The Arizona
Diamondbacks, The Arizona Cardinals, The Phoenix Suns, The Phoenix Coyotes,
and of course the U of A. Many regular customers also love to come in and watch
their favorite sports teams. More TV’s and satellites have been added so more
games can be shown at the same time.
Dell’s has always been family owned and operated.  After Ed passed away in 1977,
Dell continued to manage the restaurant.  Now after more than 30 years of hard
work she has retired and passed the management down through the generations,
but she still has the last word.  The whole family would like to thank you for your
many years of patronage and support to Dell’s Pizza.
